I firmly believe in complaining. Whenever you pay for a service, you have a certain expectation, and when that expectation is not met, it is necessary to complain. I complain often, and I’m not ashamed of it.
Why do I do it? Because my money has value. No one ever has stopped me on the street to hand out cash to me. Lately, it has been really challenging for me to complain. The language barrier has been one of my biggest obstacles (thank you, Deepl, for translating my lengthy complaints), and to be frank, that one is one me because I haven’t been practicing my Polish, but that’s another story.
From the years that I’ve spent in Poland, I noticed that people rarely complain. I find it extremely interesting. In the USA, one could argue that complaining is a sport for certain people, but here in Poland, it is the opposite. Could it be that people are not used to it? Fear? Hard to say, but if you are reading this, I want to encourage you to do it. Remember, nothing is for free in this life, and no company or service provider is doing any favor to you.
Now let me tell you about my latest endeavor. We have been having problems with one of the tenants in our building, this person tends to leave the entrance door open, and to me, that’s a massive threat to our security. We have contacted the administration countless times, but our complaints have fallen into deaf ears. I’m very frustrated, for that reason I decided to write a letter to them, will it have any effect? I don’t know, but I guess we will find out together.
and the letter goes like this:
I want to preface this email by expressing how disappointed I feel by your lack of interest in solving the issue that we are experiencing in our property.
A few months back, someone entered the property and stole my bicycle because someone had left the door open.
As it has been reported to you on several occasions, the tenant of one of the commercial premises leaves the entrance door open to “cool down” its business, and that is just beyond me.
We have complained several times about this situation, and your inaction and inefficiency have led nowhere.
Having the door open represents a significant threat to our security; as a tenant/owner, I do not feel safe in my property.
Your lack of action has led me to search legal council. I’m writing this email as a courtesy to let you know that if something were to happen to my property or my family, I would be taking legal action against your company. It is regrettable that is has come down to this. Still, you have left me no option.
It must be beneficial for your company to have pictures framed of our building in your office and the press and business that the building has generated for you at our cost. Since you promote it so much, we expect you to help us keep it habitable.
I want to finish by saying that the lack of interest and blame-shifting are things that keep the city from moving forward, and I will not put with it any longer.
Do i sound like a Karen? I don’t know and I don’t care. Stay tuned!
