Most of us have things in our lives we’d like to have changed. And, for most of us, time and money play a significant role in whatever you want to be different.
I want to tell you how to get around one of the main obstacles you’ve been using as a reason (or excuse) for not having made that change already.
C’mon, think of something that’s been bugging you, something you want to have changed in your life. Now that you have that “something” in mind, what would you think if I said you could change it in just 15 minutes?
Do you think I’m full of baloney? I’m talking about making a significant difference in your life – whether it’s a relationship, improving your health, learning a new skill or language, improving your financial condition, increasing your education or even creating or giving up a habit. It can be done in 15 minutes a day.
Some of you might be thinking, “wait, Cole, so why aren’t you rich & famous, if you can achieve your goals in 15 minutes a day?” The honest answer is, being rich & famous isn’t anywhere on the list of things I want to achieve. Personally, I have a lot of stuff I strive toward every day and using the 15-minute technique has helped me a lot, so far.
Believe me, when I get home after working a 14-hour day and a half hour commute each way (in decent traffic), it doesn’t leave much free time. Once you factor in 6 hours of sleep and time in the morning to get ready to go, I have somewhere between 2.5 to 3 hours of free time each day.
So, I need structure. I have a written list of what must get done and a plan for what areas are going to get my attention for the rest of the time I have before going to sleep.
I have several areas of focus which each get a block of roughly 15 minutes each evening. Those things include stuff like taking care of my health, making phone calls, clearing my email inbox, planning and preparing for the next day, paying bills, dealing with social media, and also reading & writing.
There are a lot of books out there, even many paid programs, which will tell you how to be more successful in achieving the goals you have for your life. Most of them boil down to a few simple, common steps.
Set a goal. Make a consistent effort toward that goal.
